HIYA Toys Exquisite Mini's Alien Queen and Eggs Review

HIYA Toys Exquisite Queen Alien and Eggs Review

The Alien Queen is the best of the best of the xenomorphs and is not something you want to run into. It started with the Aliens movie in 1985 and expanded in the Dark Horse comics universe and other movies that would later follow.  One thing always was consistent, she was menacing and a force to be reckoned with!  Ripley faced one and in my opinion she only won out of pure luck, others faced them and generally a nuke was needed to finish off the job.  In Aliens vs Predator it took a human/predator team up to barely win the battle only later to find out the damage was already done. Scar was soon to give birth to a Predalien in the Predator mother ship.  Hiya toys is expanding and growing and their figures just get better and better.  Let's take a closer look at this beautiful figure and her eggs hoping we don't lose our lunch.

HIYA Toys Exquisite Mini's Robocop 2 Figures review

Hiya Toys Exquisite Robocop 2 Figures

Robocop 2 is set in Detroit in a not so distant future, and OCP is a evil corporation that is trying to make another version of the infamous Robocop.  This time hes battling a drug gang and the evil leader Kane who's a complete psycho.  I enjoyed the first and the second movie pretty equally with my favorite character ED-209 getting chances to steal the show.  Hiya has taken the Robocop 2 character and shrunk him down into a 4" highly detailed figure.  If you have watched the movie you realize that Robocop takes a beating and Hiya also offered us a battle damaged version that is pretty spot on.  Let's jump into my review and see how the exquisite minis stand up to the look and feel of Robocop 2.

Mezco Toyz One:12 Jason Voorhees Friday the 13th Part 3 Figure Review

Mezco Toyz Jason Voorhees
I have never been a horror movie fan. My imagination takes what I see and runs with it which can be creepy at times.  I have never collected horror figures because I always prefer figures with weapons for movie or comic based characters.  NECA TOYS makes a lot of horror stuff, but since I am not a horror fan I never owned any figures from their horror line.  That brings us to Mezco which despite my lack of affinity for horror is causing me to slowly build up a detailed horror line that I don't mind using precious display space on.  I already have Micheal Myers and the Evil Dead 2 Ash figure so I am glad I was able to grab this Jason.  Let's discuss Jason from this casual horror fan's perspective on how well Mezco did with the figure.

Mezco Toyz One:12 Marvel Wolverine Figure Review (Standard/Brown)

Mezco Toyz Wolverine (Standard/Brown)
Fresh on the heels of the NYCC Exclusive Tiger Stripe Wolverine comes the standard brown version which is based on the 80's comic book art of him which made its first appearance in the UNCANNY X-MEN. As you know from my last Wolverine review he is by far my favorite super hero. I am happy to get another chance to get him in hand to play with, pose, and photograph. Let's take a look!

Mezco Toyz One:12 Collective Superman Figure Review

Mezco Toyz Superman
When most people hear Superman they think of the 80's movies and Christopher Reeves. I tend to think about my classic Kenner Super Powers figure I owned as a kid.  This version of Mezco's Superman really reminds of that Super Powers version from head to toe. He may have some flaws, but he still has that classic look and feel.  Let's find out if Mezco's Superman was worth the wait.

NECA TOYS The Terminator Police Assualt T-800 Review

Police Assault T-800
The "Police Assault" in the Terminator was a scene I relished as a kid.  I always wanted the bad guys to win and take it to the good guys. The Terminator kills 17 police officers after driving a car through the front of the police station.  The music tone is great as he massacres cop after cop trying to find Sarah Connor.  This is a rarity in films as its always the good guys who win, but in this scene it's Terminator 17 - Cops 0. In my opinion, this scene may be the best scene in the entire franchise of the Terminator as it truly shows what a Terminator can do...kill mercilessly and without emotion.
*This is only a fantasy world opinion, not real life.*

NECA TOYS The Terminator Tech Noir T-800 Review

Tech-Noir T-800
The "Tech Noir" club is fictional  of course and was set up just for the scene in The Terminator.  However, during filming people on the street wanted to get in not realizing it was not a real club.  I think the people that wanted to get in changed their minds after seeing the movie.  This figure encompasses more than just the club scene, and I think this is a classic part that resonates with everyone.  Arnold melts the bouncers hand and proceeds to mow down anyone in his way of killing Sarah Connor.

While three of the figures are re-releases one of them is all new, but we will get to that later.

NECA TOYS Kenner Aliens Ripley Figure Review

 AlienDay426
Kenner Ripley
Can you believe it's already the 30th Anniversary for ALIENS?  I feel like it was just yesterday when I was freaking out over the Alien Queen and that stuff that was flowing out of the Torn Bishop. One of the ways NECA Toys is celebrating ALIENS DAY on 4/26, is with the Kenner Ripley figure. Ripley is a perfect throwback to the 90's comic version you might have owned as a kid. We were lucky enough to get our hands on one and discuss it just before ALIENS Day!

NECA TOYS Commando 30th Anniversary Ultimate John Matrix Review

Ultimate COMMANDO John Matrix

*Cue the steel drums*

One of my most beloved and iconic movie characters, John Matrix of COMMANDO, has finally been brought to life in 7" action figure form. I love Arnold Schwarzenegger. In the past NECA has brought us different figures based of Dutch from Predator and Arnold's T-800 from the Terminator series. They are very cool and are must haves for any Arnold fan. One thing I always wanted to have was a John Matrix figure. NECA has made me one happy customer, and went all out for this one by giving him the Ultimate treatment. Be forewarned: I eat toy reviews for breakfast. And right now, I'm very hungry! It's time for me to let off some steam. On a side note: I have to remind you readers, I'm typing this with my weak arm. Ok, enough with this macho bullshit!

NECA Toys NES Rambo Figure

NECA Toys: NES Rambo

So who wants to battle the giant spider to save the little boy that was never a part of the movie?

Rambo, the video game, was a product of the NES creators taking parts from the movie and adding in a whole bunch of crazy things in order to make a game that kids would play in the 80's.

RAMBO II was one of the first action movies I watched as a kid. My dad called me into the house that Saturday night to watch it at 7 years old.  As a young kid, this movie was so cool and just opened my imagination to so many things I would grow to love.  I would quote Murdock when I was bringing my toys outside with my brother saying "Maybe the government didn't care?" just because I thought the movie was so cool.

Then, one Friday night my father took us to the mall to get dinner and walk around. We always did things on the weekends and I loved the mall.  We stopped into Babbage's, yes Babbage's, and I see the NES Rambo video game sitting there!  At the time, I didn't know there was a game, and neither did my dad or my brother.  Back then we only received games for maybe Birthday or for Christmas, but that night my dad saw how excited we were and bought us the game!  We couldn't wait to get home and play as RAMBO on the NES system, and we did for about an hour before my father shut us down for the night.  We played the game the entire weekend and days and days to come until one day we had finally beat the game!

Now some key things about this story...we had a very old, small, black and white TV and we had to keep the game paused to not lose our progress.  Even with these odds against us we beat it! About a month later, my brother got a nice new color TV, way bigger than our black and white TV.  So the first game we wanted to play and see in color was RAMBO!  We turn it on, and instantly love the colors...but we also notice this thing up top called the weapons bar.  We both freaked out and said we beat the entire game with a knife when we had all of these weapons we could of used???  So yes, my brother and I beat the NES RAMBO game with just the knife and (somehow grenades).  That's part of my NES RAMBO childhood memories, and well now I get to play the game all over again.  This time I get to use his RPG and Bow and arrow right away!

Packaging

The NES Rambo comes in the classic box I remember having in my hands at Babbage's.  It looks so cool, and you can't help but remember what it was like to play the game.  The insert shows a conversation between Trautman and Rambo about the mission just like in the NES game.  The backdrop for the figure is the classic jungle look from the game, I always loved these boards.  On the back it shows you highlights of his weapons, and what the purpose of RAMBO is.

Figure

The Rambo figure is well made, and the paint applications really stand out on this figure.  He has the body of the NECA Rambo II figure with highlights of orange and other colors to give him that true NES feel.  His joints work well and allows him to be put in almost any pose you choose.  I particularly like the look of his face and the bandanna that is what's left of Co's dress.

Weapons

Rambo comes with a nice assortment of weapons and hands to make him look the way you want.  He can hold all his weapons snug, and comes with the long awaited bow with arrows!  The bow is made well, and has actual rope to allow you to fire the arrow!  Between the grenade, RPG, bow and arrow, I don't think anyone is stopping RAMBO!

Bottom Line

This figure is unique and a treasure to any NES or RAMBO fan.  He is the total package! From the box, to the figure and his weapons, he is a must buy.  NECA continues to make these wonderful video game line figures. I am very pleased to know that there are many more to come!  NECA Toys is at the top of their game right now!

NECA Toys Video Game Rocky Action Figure Review

Boom! Randy and NECA have done it again with a KNOCKOUT of a figure with the video game version of Rocky. I have seen many pictures of this figure online, but you can't begin to truly appreciate this figure until you get it in your hands. It blew my expectations right out of the water!

"I guess what I'm trying to say, is that if I can change, and you can change, everybody can change!"
Packaging:
This figures comes with the Sega-style packaging which I love. As always, when it comes to the NES/video games figures the packaging is ALMOST as good as the figures. NECA always pays close attention to detail and does an excellent job of replicating the look of the original packaging of the video game. Like the other action figures in this line, the inside of the box has a picture from the Start screen, an open window where the figure sits, and a 8 bit-style background. As you can tell from the above picture those backgrounds come in handy when taking photographs of the figure.

Figure and Accessories:
This figure may only come with one accessory, but in my opinion it is one hell of an accessory. The American flag is molded to fit right over his shoulders. With it on, Rocky looks just like he did in the movie. Rocky is wearing his red, white, and blue trunks courtesy of his old buddy Apollo Creed. (Quick side note: Hey Carl Weathers, give Randy a call so you guys can get working on a Dillon figure!) The color on the trunks and gloves pop and the shading used on the hair and body just put this over the top. There is tan/light brown shading used on the body and blue/purple used on the hair. The paints and shading really accentuate and highlight the many details of this figure.

Bottom Line:
NECA has come out with many different Rocky figures over the years and I like them all a great deal. With that said, this one is, by far, my favorite one! Whether you are a Rocky collector or just a big fan of the retro NES/video game line you will not be disappointed. Like I said before, you can't truly begin to appreciate how nice this figure is until you get him in your hands, play with him, and pose him.

It's great to know that this line has just taken off and there is no end in sight!
