The Alien Queen is the best of the best of the xenomorphs and is not something you want to run into. It started with the Aliens movie in 1985 and expanded in the Dark Horse comics universe and other movies that would later follow.  One thing always was consistent, she was menacing and a force to be reckoned with!  Ripley faced one and in my opinion she only won out of pure luck, others faced them and generally a nuke was needed to finish off the job.  In Aliens vs Predator it took a human/predator team up to barely win the battle only later to find out the damage was already done. Scar was soon to give birth to a Predalien in the Predator mother ship.  Hiya toys is expanding and growing and their figures just get better and better.  Let's take a closer look at this beautiful figure and her eggs hoping we don't lose our lunch.

I've finally got the new Hiya Toys AVP Predators and Aliens in hand and they are awesome! I'm not a over the top fan of the AVP movie, but I really like the designs of the characters.  When you watch the movie there is something off with the Predators and their suits, but the figures look great and better then what we see on screen.  I thought the Alien design was very sleek and good looking in the movie so the figures naturally look great and are accurate.  Now that they are finally in my hands, let's take a closer look at just how good Hiya did with this wave!

Regular readers of our website know that we are huge fans of the video game appearance style figures by NECA Toys. What started with a one off SDCC exclusive NES-style Jason Voorhees figure has blossomed into a wildly popular line for NECA. One of my favorite VGA figures up to this point was the blue and brown Dog Alien. This Warrior which is based off the 1990 arcade game is right up there with it in my mind. Let's take a closer look at what makes this figure so great.

NECA toys is really starting to go deep into our childhood toys in a great way.  In the 90's the Kenner Aliens, Predators, and Marines line was a huge hit and provided a ton of unique looks to these characters.  One of the craziest ones was the Alien Queen Facehugger that was a larger, uglier, creepier version of a regular Facehugger.  Based off of the Kenner storyline the Queen Facehugger can't plant Alien larva into a host but is there to defend the Queen eggs and sometimes uses its tail and legs to help hold down a host.  One of the things about the large Queen Facehugger, like other facehuggers, is it reminds me of a nasty spider, and I hate spiders…

They have already brought us many Kenner inspired figures from the PREDATOR line, but now they have brought us our first Kenner inspired ALIENS figures. This is a highly popular line that many people collected in the 90's. NECA really went out of their way to to stay true to the original figure while adding their own special touches to the figure.

If you are a fan of comics and the Alien's franchise then you have at least heard about the Aliens Genocide story line.  As a kid, this was a thrilling comic to read as I tried to understand why would humans want to go to the Aliens home planet.  It's all about a drug called "FIRE" which consists of sweet Alien juice from the xenomorphs body chemistry.  The military wants the drug (Big Surprise) and sets out to travel to the Alien home planet and steal a Queen.  Talk about a death mission! On top of it when the humans land on the planet the Aliens are in the midst of a Civil War.

Celtic Predator vs Grid Alien

Go back and watch the fight scene in the Temple between the Celtic Predator and the Grid Alien. As I watched this scene I realized that even after 12 years it's an interesting fight with a surprising winner. The NECA versions of this battle put you right in the middle of this epic fight scene. From the Celtic's helmet getting scratched to the net being shot at the Alien before he pounces on the Predator. Finally, we are getting highly detailed versions of great vehicles from iconic action movies of the past.  Who else but NECA would be the ones to come through for all of us fans!  The first series of Cinemachines is based off the movies ALIEN and ALIENS. This series brings us four different vehicles.  When we spoke to Randy Falk last summer I asked about the possibility of doing large vehicles for Aliens, Terminator, etc since they had already done the Predator Blade Fighter.  He responded with it being a possibility but in a smaller scale.  I wasn't too sure how I felt about the idea of vehicles in a smaller scale, but I was certainly curious about what NECA could do with it.  

Fast forward to this February when we were able to meet with Randy at NY Toy Fair. That is when we actually got to hold these awesome vehicles in hand.   Yes, we all saw the pictures of what was to come, but pictures just don't do these justice. Once I had the Dropship in my hand and shot out the APC I knew they were cooler than any type of line like this before.  The detail of each piece was evident, and the weight/build of each was equally impressive.  Let's take a closer look at these amazing pieces so you can decide where you want to display them!

Can you believe it's already the 30th Anniversary for ALIENS?  I feel like it was just yesterday when I was freaking out over the Alien Queen and that stuff that was flowing out of the Torn Bishop. One of the ways NECA Toys is celebrating ALIENS DAY on 4/26, is with the Kenner Ripley figure. Ripley is a perfect throwback to the 90's comic version you might have owned as a kid. We were lucky enough to get our hands on one and discuss it just before ALIENS Day!

If you haven't purchased NECA's AVP Predator line yet, you will want to after you read this review.  I think most people have the same opinion about the movie...the Predators looked like they were on steroids, and the actors were just plain boring.  The movie is truly about the Alien vs Predator battles throughout, but they were hard to follow and not exactly "non rubber suit looking".  I'd sit here and write about the entire movie premise, but at this point all that matters is the amazing figures NECA has created from a PG-13 Alien/Predator movie. I decided for this series, I would review all three Predators together to compare and contrast their differences.

Hi everyone, I just received the Kenner Aliens Power Loader, and man this thing is just a hunk of plastic.  Oh wait, I actually got the NECA Toys version of the Aliens Power Loader and this thing is much more than some plastic!  Classic, a perfect word to describe the NECA Power Loader.  It's truly something pulled right out of the Aliens movie, and not just to fight the Queen, but to also help me move things around in my room.  It comes in a smaller box than you would think, but wait until you take it out you and get a feel of how cool and in scale it is with all of your NECA Aliens collection!

In the 90's, toys were really starting to come off the tracks with design and colors.  This is the same time that Kenner was producing the Aliens vs Predator line that had cool ideas but not exactly perfect figures.  I always felt for some reason the Kenner Aliens were better overall compared to their Predator counterparts.  There was just something about the Predator size and articulation with the figures that made them not look like the Predator we knew from the big screen and comics.  NECA has been successful in turning the tide with the Kenner lines and adding their own mark on these original figures.  Let's take a closer look at what may be the best 2-pack NECA has ever produced. Are you an Aliens or Predator person….you decide!

Who's your Ultimate Team?

       Jon and I constantly debate who some of the top action icon characters are and who would you want on your team.  For instance, an all Vietnam era team would be James Braddock (Chuck Norris), Dutch Shaefer (Arnold Schwarzenegger), John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) and a tie between Colonel Trautman (Richard Crenna) and Hannibal Smith (George Peppard).  Who wouldn't want that to be your team?

Now who would they face off against?  Terminators, Aliens, and Predators are the top 3 I always think of. We aren't saying what if this movie was made or had these people in it, we're talking where does your imagination take you?  What other baddies could these insane soldiers take on?  What about an all cop team, or even an all soldier team?  I am writing this cause I wanna get every one's opinion and their wild thoughts on this insane universe.  Who are you taking on your team?  Who are they battling against, and of course who wins?

NECA Toys Aliens BISHOP Figure Review

The next figure that is up for review just happens to be one of my favorite characters from the movie, ALIENS...BISHOP the android! 

PACKAGING:

The figure comes with the standard packaging which features art on the back and sides as well as pictures of the other figures that are available in this series of figures. Take a look below.

FIGURE:

NECA did a great job with Bishop. His face looks exactly the same as he does in the movie. His jump suit and sneakers also look excellent. More on the sneaks later. As always, there are many points of articulation on the body. He poses very well so no need to use a stand on this one.

ACCESSORIES:

Bishop comes with some sweet accessories including the knife he uses to perform his special knife trick on Private Hudson.

The sneakers on Bishop are actually one of my favorite things about the figure. I know that may sound odd, but as I always say it's that attention to detail that separates NECA from the others. I just might need to go out and get me some red and white velcro sneaks!!!

OVERALL: 

If you love collecting ALIEN figures then Bishop is the perfect addition to your Xenomorphs and Colonial Marines. He is a very fun figure to play with, pose, and photograph. One day I would love to make a custom of him ripped in half like in the movie.

First off, let's just say KANE is a very detailed figure, and man I would not want to be him.  If you know anything about the alien movie, you know his FATE.  The first Alien movie has a different feel from the rest just because of the time and process it takes to see the Alien, "Big Chap".  Let's talk about KANE and what this unique figure has to offer.

Packaging:

The packaging is the classic NECA look with art on the sides and back as well as the backer card.  I have a particular way of opening these figures because I prefer not to destroy any of the artwork that comes with him.  Check it out….. Pretty cool!

Figure:

After opening the figure I noticed right away the amount of detail and workmanship that went into it.  From head to toe he is covered in details that are specific to the character and his suit.  I removed all of his parts and right away went into bend and pose mode. He was a little tight which is normal, but after moving him some he was still snug but able to pose. 

ACCESSORIES: 

He comes with a nice 2 piece helmet, very cool gun, and the signature light he carries from the movie.  I remember watching this as a kid, and certain elements of the movie blew my mind.  Kane definitely walked into one of the areas that did that to me! The helmet comes off and reveals the nasty face hugger stuck to his face.  Once this happens, it's all over...you will no longer have a stomach (even if you have a bottle of Pepto!)

Overall:

Once I was done critiquing him on his own, I threw him right into the alien pit.  Good luck to anyone that goes anywhere near this group of nasty's. He fits right in with the rest of NECA's line of Aliens and photographs very well!  I did notice when I initially took him out of the package he has some slight stickiness to certain areas of his paint.  Generally, with any figure that this happens to, after being out of the package for a little while, it tends to dry up and not be noticeable.  It didn't affect anything with the figure, and I didn't have any problems with him. I just opened him up and went nuts with him!
