Mezco Toyz One:12 Jason Voorhees Friday the 13th Part 3 Figure Review

Mezco Toyz Jason Voorhees
I have never been a horror movie fan. My imagination takes what I see and runs with it which can be creepy at times.  I have never collected horror figures because I always prefer figures with weapons for movie or comic based characters.  NECA TOYS makes a lot of horror stuff, but since I am not a horror fan I never owned any figures from their horror line.  That brings us to Mezco which despite my lack of affinity for horror is causing me to slowly build up a detailed horror line that I don't mind using precious display space on.  I already have Micheal Myers and the Evil Dead 2 Ash figure so I am glad I was able to grab this Jason.  Let's discuss Jason from this casual horror fan's perspective on how well Mezco did with the figure.

  • Body has 28 points of articulation including double jointed elbows
  • Two head portraits one showing damage
  • Two hockey masks one showing damage
  • Six interchangeable hands
  • Detailed and movie accurate clothing
  • Huge weapons set
    • Axe
    • Machete
    • Wrench
    • Cleaver
    • Fire place poker
    • Pitchfork
    • Knife
    • Spear gun
  • The neck is attached to the body but doesn't hinder articulation
I was skeptical of how well this figure would translate into Mezco figure form, and well...I just should have known this was going to be a great figure.  When we first saw him at Toy Fair 2018 I was very happy to see the look and accessories that come with him, and that made it an easier decision for me to add him to my collection. Jason is loaded with weapons, and they are highly detailed and movie accurate which makes him a lot of fun to photograph.  He uses a new body. This is an area where Mezco continues to improve upon (they must be listening to what fans are asking for).  I like both of his masks and they easily come on and off. The damaged mask lets you place the axe in his head! This kind of detail from Mezco is what makes me buy fringe figures for my collection. They just make every single figure worth buying.
As I have stated above, I am a casual horror fan (at best) that has never collected the figures, but Mezco is totally changing all of that.  I assume that with so many Jason/Friday the 13th movies in the library we will probably get other variations of Jason from the movies. I am very happy they chose to do this version first flat out because of all the highly detailed weapons he has. This is a classic figure from head to toe that really captures the creepy horror of Jason that he brings to the big screen!
Let us know if you picked Jason up and what your thoughts are on him!  I highly recommend if you are a horror/Mezco fan you don't pass on this one!
