Last Saturday for the fifth consecutive year in a row Steve and I made our annual voyage up to the Javits Center for New York Toy Fair. It is always a long day with lots of work, but we always find a way to keep it fun.

GODZILLA!!!! Even though King Kong is my ultimate favorite monster how can you not like Godzilla?!? (Godzilla is Steve's favorite though...he has a thing for reptiles). This is an awesome looking iteration of Godzilla from the 2016 Shin Godzilla film. I was particularly hyped about this figure because of how awesome the purple looked on him! Well, let's see how well that dope glowing purple look translated once it was put into action figure form.

The Predator is the latest installment in the Predator movie franchise that premiered a few weeks ago. Tons of varied opinions have come from the movie but after seeing it myself the Fugitive Predator ended up looking great on screen and was probably the highlight of the movie.  NECA Toys got a first hand look while in development and recently released their figure version of the Fugitive.

The 25th anniversary of Terminator 2 is upon us and NECA has created the authentic look of Arnold from the first stages of the movie. Arnold has that slow walk, dropping the box of roses with a shotgun rising prepared for his first encounter with the T-1000.  At first sight you may not see any variance from the later version, but when he first encounters the biker at the bar his outfit is different. At this point in the movie the only damage the T-800 has taken is a cigar burn, and a poke to the chest and doesn't have much flesh damage. Let's take a closer look at the slick 25th Anniversary T-800.

Last Saturday we made the trek up for our third New York Toy Fair at the Javits Center. Those who go to Toy Far know that it is either snowing or extremely frigid and windy every year. This year was a pleasant exception with a mild and sunny day.

We saw all kinds of great stuff from all different toy companies. Our first appointment of the day was with Project Manager of Mezco Toyz, Pierre Kalenzaga. We spent most of the time discussing the amazing One:12 Collective line. We got to see in person all of the new figures they debuted at their media event that was held the week prior to Toy Fair. From talking with Pierre we know that Mezco is going to continue to branch out with this line. The addition of Popeye and the Dawn of the Dead figures are proof of that. Not only that, but most figures will get some sort of variants made. For example, we learned that Deadpool and Wolverine will both be getting two variants different from the versions of them that were already shown. The classic version of Punisher with white gloves and boots is still planned to be released in the future. We can't wait to see what else Mezco Toyz has in store for us. They are killing it with the One:12 Collective line.

Over the past year NECA has been providing us with a large list of "Ultimate" figures from all of our favorite movies, games, and toy lines.  Years ago NECA created a line from the T2 movie based off the many different looks of the characters throughout the movie.  So far we have the Ultimate T-800, Sarah Connor and T-1000, and now we have the T-1000 Motorcycle Cop! Each Ultimate figure NECA provides is absolutely loaded with weapons and extra parts to provide many different looks.  The T-1000 motorcycle cop is no exception and provides his classic look along with the MP-5 I have been waiting for!

NECA toys is really starting to go deep into our childhood toys in a great way.  In the 90's the Kenner Aliens, Predators, and Marines line was a huge hit and provided a ton of unique looks to these characters.  One of the craziest ones was the Alien Queen Facehugger that was a larger, uglier, creepier version of a regular Facehugger.  Based off of the Kenner storyline the Queen Facehugger can't plant Alien larva into a host but is there to defend the Queen eggs and sometimes uses its tail and legs to help hold down a host.  One of the things about the large Queen Facehugger, like other facehuggers, is it reminds me of a nasty spider, and I hate spiders…

NECA continues to knock it out of the park (Steve asks me exactly how many homeruns NECA has hit at this point) with their homage figures. They have already brought us many Kenner inspired figures from the PREDATOR line, but now they have brought us our first Kenner inspired ALIENS figures. This is a highly popular line that many people collected in the 90's. NECA really went out of their way to to stay true to the original figure while adding their own special touches to the figure.

If you are a fan of comics and the Alien's franchise then you have at least heard about the Aliens Genocide story line.  As a kid, this was a thrilling comic to read as I tried to understand why would humans want to go to the Aliens home planet.  It's all about a drug called "FIRE" which consists of sweet Alien juice from the xenomorphs body chemistry.  The military wants the drug (Big Surprise) and sets out to travel to the Alien home planet and steal a Queen.  Talk about a death mission! On top of it when the humans land on the planet the Aliens are in the midst of a Civil War.

Pacific Rim is all about Kaiju monsters attacking earth through a portal in the sea.  It starts off with some great action sequences in the beginning of the movie. He is shown in night vision in the prologue of the movie fighting Romeo Blue.  The kaijus from the movie are awesome and we get to see the epic size of these monsters the jaegers have to fight.
