For the fourth year in a row we had the pleasure of touring the NECA Toys booth at NY Toy Fair. This year Summer Mullins, Public Relations and Marketing Director, was kind enough to take time out of her busy day to show us around and talk about their upcoming products with us.

NECA continues to knock it out of the park (Steve asks me exactly how many homeruns NECA has hit at this point) with their homage figures. They have already brought us many Kenner inspired figures from the PREDATOR line, but now they have brought us our first Kenner inspired ALIENS figures. This is a highly popular line that many people collected in the 90's. NECA really went out of their way to to stay true to the original figure while adding their own special touches to the figure.

My older brother and I logged many, many hours playing T2 when we were kids. Back then we were often beating the crap out of each other so it was nice to have something we could play together...without trying to kill each other. While we loved the movie, the game kind of sucked! We preferred the T2 arcade game version. Luckily, even though the game sucked the figure is very cool!

UPDATE from Playmates Toys: TRU Exclusive TMNT Classic Collection Figures Coming Soon

Last week we reported that there has been sightings of three new TMNT Classic Collection figures popping up on eBay and other places online. At that time, we had no news to report on these figures other than to let you know they've been spotted.

Well, we reached out to Playmates Toys to get clarification. They reached out to the marketing department for us and here is what Paula Billingsley (Consumer/Officer Services Manager at Playmates Toys) had to say:

"These are all TRU Exclusives. The first 3, Skateboardin' Michelangelo, Touchdown Tossin' Leonardo, and Delta Donatello are hitting TRU in 1-2 weeks."

They even gave us some insight into future waves of TMNT Classic Collections that they have planned:

"The others are TBD –Super Mikey -Super Don -Military Leo probably fall 9/1/2016."

Well, there you have it! The three Classic Collection TMNT figures that we spotted online are Toys R Us exclusive items and will be hitting shelves soon! Not only that, but another wave is also planned for the fall. You heard it here first!

Also, now that you know that these are coming to Toys R Us please be sure to NOT FEED THE SCALPERS online who are asking for exorbitant amounts of money for these figures!!!

Three new Classic Collection TMNT Figures by Playmates Toys Spotted Online

While browsing eBay I came across a listing for three new Classic Collection TMNT figures. They are Skateboardin' Michelangelo, Touchdown Tossin' Leonardo, and Delta Donatello.

We have reached out to Playmates Toys for word on these new figures since Delta Don is not listed on their website, and I have not seen any news about these figures. So far we have been unable to get a response.

I hope these will find their way to TRU very soon and that we will continue to see more Classic Collection figures in the future. We will keep you posted if/when we hear back from Playmates.

Vintage TMNT Haul from Half Shell Toys

Everyone who follows us knows that we each have very diverse toy collections. With the said, we each still have our all-time favorites. Steve's favorite always has been and will be the original G.I. JOE: ARAH line from Hasbro. My personal favorite is the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle line by Playmates.

As a kid I had so many of the figures and the playsets. I spent countless hours pretending to battle Shredder and the Foot Clan with my TMNT figures on the Technodrome and Sewer Lair. A few years back I was digging in the attic of my parents house and came across some of my original TMNT collection. Lots of it was missing and most weapons and accessories were long gone. Even then, finding those figures that I cherished as a kid was like finding gold. I scooped them up and displayed them in a room at my house. Around this time, my interest in collecting was already starting to grow due to Steve's toy collection. From this point on I decided that I wanted to complete my figures and rebuild the collection I had as a kid. Since then I have not only built it up to that point, but have surpassed what I had. A collector's job is never finished though.

I recently went on a little bit of a vintage TMNT splurge. First, Steve hooked me up with an excellent deal on some great pieces such as complete set of the Storage Shell Turtles, Toon Shredder, and many  more! A big thanks to him as he has helped me tremendously with building my collection up! 

In the past I have purchased a few much needed pieces for my collection from Tim at Half Shell Toys. Each time I have gone through him I have been extremely satisfied. This transaction was a few months in the making as both of us have been extremely busy with the daily grind of life! In the end, I bought three complete vehicles (Turtlecopter, Pogocopter, and Knucklehead) as well as fifteen complete figures from Tim.

Hi everyone, I just received the Kenner Aliens Power Loader, and man this thing is just a hunk of plastic.  Oh wait, I actually got the NECA Toys version of the Aliens Power Loader and this thing is much more than some plastic!  Classic, a perfect word to describe the NECA Power Loader.  It's truly something pulled right out of the Aliens movie, and not just to fight the Queen, but to also help me move things around in my room.  It comes in a smaller box than you would think, but wait until you take it out you and get a feel of how cool and in scale it is with all of your NECA Aliens collection!

In the 90's, toys were really starting to come off the tracks with design and colors.  This is the same time that Kenner was producing the Aliens vs Predator line that had cool ideas but not exactly perfect figures.  I always felt for some reason the Kenner Aliens were better overall compared to their Predator counterparts.  There was just something about the Predator size and articulation with the figures that made them not look like the Predator we knew from the big screen and comics.  NECA has been successful in turning the tide with the Kenner lines and adding their own mark on these original figures.  Let's take a closer look at what may be the best 2-pack NECA has ever produced. Are you an Aliens or Predator person….you decide!

NECA NES Gremlins 2 Mohawk Figure Review

Sweet Gremlins, they are so nice, fury and cute aren't they?  Not this menacing Gremlin, since I've brought him home he's been nothing but trouble!  During our recent visit with Randy Falk and the NECA toys crew, we were able to see the final product of the NES 8-Bit Mohawk Gremlin.  NECA truly spends equal time on their collectibles and the packaging art for all their items.  I am sorry to say I don't have any pictures of the final box art as Randy was kind enough to provide me with a sample.  The ride home was a mess, as Mohawk would not stop tearing up my car and Jon was trying to keep him at bay.  Well he is home now, and he is under a watchful eye 24/7, let's get into the great details of this figure!

NECA Video Game Series Figures

Packaging:

Since I don't have the actual packaging, I can only give a fair review based off of the final item we were able to see at NECA.  YOU WILL LOVE IT!  Stay tuned as this fits right in will all of the vintage video game figures being produced!

Figure:

I love all of the Gremlins figures NECA has made, but this Mohawk figure is so unique that it's by far my favorite one.  The paint is very detailed and shows a great mix of vintage 8-Bit NES colors.  He has a nice mix of yellow, black, and a few different shades of grey to polish off his awesome look.  The mouth opens well, his head has great movement, and he even stands very well on his own. You will want to constantly play with this figure like you are 6 years old! 

Accessories:

The gun is one of the coolest things about this figure!  It's made well, and fits in his hands a bunch of different ways to give you a lot of pose ability options.  Now even though he comes with a gun, he also literally has an infinite amount of items to use around your house to just flat out make you laugh.  My wife is a huge Gremlins fan, and when I told her I received this figure, she was not happy that it wasn't for her.  This Gremlin is so cool that it made my wife, who's not crazy about my collection, upset it wasn't going to be hers!

Overall:

I love this figure to death!  He is a lot of fun to just carry around, pose and just play with!  His colors really stand out, and give him a mean look that fits him perfectly.

Convention Exclusive NECA Toys Force of Freedom Rambo Figure Review

RAMBO

Force of Freedom

The year is 1986, it's 6:30 in the morning, and my father and I are watching Rambo Force of Freedom. We both enjoyed the cartoon on a regular basis together. When the figures were released, my father was first to notice and bought me Col. Trautman and Rambo. Now realize I'm 5 years old and loved the movies and the cartoon just as much as GI JOE and Transformers. I was extremely happy to have these figures as a child and still do now. Fast forward to now, NECA toys was able to produce an excellent homage figure for all of us Force of Freedom fans. This is a special figure for me, as it reminds me of my childhood and the feelings I had when I was 5. I honestly love the figure so much I didn't want to open it.

Packaging and Artwork

The packaging is perfect with the bold red RAMBO letters up top and the art from the original figure backer below. On the back it provides us with a large picture of the figure as well as the previous Rambo figures NECA has released.  We are also lucky enough to get a sneak peak of the upcoming Bow Attack John Rambo figure that is next to be released.  Last but not least it provides the total synopsis behind RAMBO, Force of Freedom, and S.A.V.A.G.E. a nicely added detail.

 Figure

The figure itself is made well and comes with 3 hands for both the left and right arm.  He also displays a new face sculpt that is done well and I really enjoy. Holding him and posing him really reminds me of the original Force of Freedom figure.

Weapons

Rambo should always come with an arsenal of weapons and this figure doesn't disappoint. He comes with a brand new AK-47, Knife, Grenade, Bow, 2 arrows (One explosive and one original).  You have lots of options on how you decide you want to load up your RAMBO!

Overall

 I am very partial to this figure as it is a strong memory of my father, and NECA's version keeps that memory strong.  I love the packaging and art work on this figure, I may just buy another to have 1 unopened.  We also get the black compound bow, and the new face sculpt which may be the best one yet! This is a great SDCC exclusive that NECA will offer other ways to get, so keep your eyes peeled for it!
