Mezco Toyz One:12 Cable Figure Review

Mezco Toyz Cable
Cable was sent to the future to save his life when he was infected with a future virus.  Sounds like a great opening to an excellent movie right?  Cable was one of my favorite characters to read about in my 1990's comic binge I did as a kid. I was so attracted to the weapons in comics, and Cable always carried large, unique, futuristic guns that just jumped off the page.  When Mezco first announced this figure, I was thrilled to see they gave Cable his proper arsenal.  Let's take a closer look at how well Mezco did executing a major character to so many people in the 90's.

Pros
  • Two excellent light up head sculpts
  • 8 interchangeable hands
  • Chest armor with excellent light up function
  • Utility belt with holster
  • Leg holster with knife sheath
  • Cable specific handgun
  • Futuristic Grenade launcher
  • Plasma Cannon with two removable magazines

Cons
  • He is unable to hold his guns with both hands

Figure
Cable is an excellent figure from the ground up with lots of details and features.  He comes with an excellent blend of soft goods and armor to capture his look.  The armor doesn't hinder that much articulation and looks great.  The light up feature for the armor and eye are bright and easy to use compared to cyclops.  Cable comes with a part on the back of his armor that slides up and allows you to install the 3 batteries he comes with.  Below the battery compartment is a small switch and all his light features come on.  The neck is permanent unlike cyclops, and the light is pointed to the left to focus on his eye.

Cable is a unique character that carries futuristic looking weapons, to me this is whats gives him his signature look.  Mezco made sure to develop two excellent weapons that are light, detailed and fits his profile.  The gun holster is the same as Deadpools with a good amount of give to get his pistol in and out.  The leg hostler and knife are highly detailed and function very well with Cable. As I stated above my only con is that he can't hold his large guns with both hands.  I'm not surprised as previous Cable figures made suffer from the same problem due to the large size of the weapons.  Don't let this discourage you from picking up this fantastic figure!

Overall
Cable is an excellent addition to the Mezco Marvel universe that I hope they continue to expand on.  Magneto and Gambit are in the works and I assume there are only more to come.  If you are on the fence about getting a Cable, my opinion is this is the best version any company has ever done. It's much better than any Marvel Select and Legends versions that have been made.  I am a huge Cable fan and really pleased to finally have him in my hands and ecstatic with the final product.
