Mezco Toyz One:12 Ascending Knight Batman Review

Mezco Toyz
Ascending Knight Batman
Batman is a very interesting comic character that's been around for a long time.  Mezco decided that the Ascending Knight deserved to have all four of his looks brought to toy form! This first version is during the time when Batman is developing his suit and techniques to fight crime.  The Ascending Knight brings with it a very distinct look as Batman evolves over time.  Time will tell which of the Ascending Knights that Mezco makes will be the top, but for now lets take a closer look at the mysterious bat in the grey suit.

Pros
  • Highly detailed Batman head
  • Highly detailed Bruce Wayne head
  • Seven different hands
  • Grey spandex outfit and body armor have excellent detail
  • Grappling Gun with multiple attachments
  • Six Batarangs
  • Unique heavy assault Batarang
  • Tranquilizer dart wrist crossbow
Cons
  • The Bruce Wayne head portrait doesn't look that great on the figure.
Figure
The quality of each figure that we get from Mezco is unique to each character they create. Mezco tries different materials on different figures to see what fits the look of each character the best.  I enjoy this process and seeing the updates Mezco provides for each figure they are working on.  This Batman is no exception. It has tons of details and is loaded with gadgets.
The suit is so clean and detailed with an even grey look that kind of reminds me of the Kenner Batman from the early 90's. The chest symbol is smaller and unique and gives off a little shine. The ears are longer on his mask and the Bruce Wayne head sculpt is a nice added touch.
The Ascending Knight Batman is loaded with accessories, and I really enjoy a lot of accessories with a figure! I think the more extras Mezco adds to their figures the more it brings them to life and they seem to understand this.  The figure overall is highly detailed and a lot of fun to play with and pose. His cape is a pleather type material that spreads out very far.  Mezco included a cape clip for this that really extends how much you can do with the cape.
Overall
After receiving the 2018 Toy Fair Batman I knew it would be hard to compete against that look.  The grey suit has quickly grown on me, and I like the variation of colors that were used for this character.  He is loaded with weapons and extras and really has a cool feel to him in your hands.  If you missed out on the Toy Fair version of this figure I would recommend picking this version up along with any others you can get your hands on!
I currently have five different Batman's Mezco has made over the past few years.  Mezco is not taking a cookie cutter approach like a lot of other cheaper toy companies.  They are making distinct figures and accessories for each character that's being made. Yes, it also looks like when it makes sense they are reusing some parts but adding a different spin to these parts so they are not identical.
