NECA TOYS VGA Jason (Theme Music Packaging)
NECA knew that many collectors really wanted a crack at this figure. They didn't just merely re-release the same figure. They made some awesome improvements. The original version came with the iconic mask and a hatchet and had glow in the dark features.
The new version was kicked up a notch by the NECA crew. It comes with the same classic video game cover packaging, but has one awesome new feature. When you open the flap of the box it plays the 8-bit video game tune from the game. The sensor for the music is light sensitive. I love this idea, and I hope they continue to do this with other figures in the future. I am sucker for nostalgia.
The theme music box isn't the only new addition to this figure though. It gets even better! This figure has a tad different paint scheme (no glow in the dark). It comes with a removable hockey mask along with Jason's classic weapons of choice, his trusty machete and hatchet. Who doesn't like a good ol' fashioned melee weapon to the head, right?!? Another welcomed addition to this figure is the floating mother's head from the the game complete with a clear stand.
One last note about myself. I have never been a big fan of the horror genre. A few years ago if you would have told me that I would own several Freddy Kruger and Jason Voorhees figures I would laughed in your face. Well, leave it to NECA to prove me wrong. They make figures that are so awesome that it has caused me to branch out in regards to what I collect. Props to them for that because that is no easy task. I now own the VGA 7" Freddy, the VGA Retro Freddy, the Ultimate Freddy, the Ultimate Jason, and new NES Jason...and I don't see any sign of stopping in sight! I am one happy NECA fan. Kudos to Randy and the entire NECA crew for continuing to come out with new and exciting figures for their fans.

OK, this is really cool. I've picked up a number of the NECA Ultimate figures like Freddy, Leatherface, and Jason, but I've largely avoided the video game figures due to just not being a huge fan of the paint aesthetics. This one's pretty good, though, and the floating head almost sells it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for including the video. I was curious what the music sounded like (I expected the movie soundtrack, I guess).
