DREDD
"I am the LAW!"
Who exactly is Judge Dredd?
Joseph Dredd is a future law officer in Mega-City One. His role is to be a "street judge",
to arrest, convict, sentence and best of all execute criminals. In Mega-City
One, he is the top of all the Street Judges, just waiting for the chance to
execute those who do not obey the law. Dredd
was once offered the job of Chief Justice, but refused the position to continue
to be Judge, Jury, Executioner. There
are many layers to this character, and the foes he faces in the not too distant
future. If you follow the comic story
lines, you realize he has also fought against Xenomorphs and even a
Predator. Dredd has no fear, and is
deadly force to any enemy that crosses his path.
- Figure is extremely well made.
- Highly detailed with a realistic look and weapons.
- Magnets are used to keep parts of his accessories in place.
- Great articulation.
CONS
- The 1/12th Mezco line is a little pricey but worth the cost.
- Good weapon selection, but wish he had a few more accessories.
Yes, Dredd at one point has to face a hoard of Aliens and an
Alien Queen in one of the story lines. Dredd and another Judge fight all over the city
once they have realized the Aliens are there, and shit, they bleed acid
blood. Once they finally realize there
is more than a few Aliens and where they are coming from, they decide to hunt
them down. Mr. Bones (Bad Guy) has cultivated an Alien
Hive below the Grand Hall of Justice and plans to attack in this location. A huge
battle ensues with many people being killed, and at one point Judge Sanchez is
taken and Dredd decides to go after her.
In the end they are able to kill the Aliens and the Alien Queen, but not
before they were attacked by facehuggers and impregnated. Luckily, they are able to get out of that Hell
hole and make it back so doctors are able to remove the chestbursters. Doctors
wanted to save them to research… but Dredd kills them saying "I'm not the
motherly type."
Predator
In a few issues, Dredd and the Judges including Judge Schaefer
do battle with a Predator. Yes Schaefer,
who is the great-great-granddaughter of Major Alan "Dutch" Schaefer
from the original Predator film. The
Predator is quickly collecting Judge's heads for his trophy wall, and it's up
to Dredd and Schaefer to stop him! I am going to leave this hanging, and let
you figure out what happens from there.
Packaging
The Mezco 1/12 line is packaged like Hot Toys/Sideshow
figure. It comes with a few pictures of
the figure in different poses to give you a starting point for posing your
figure.
For those of you that bought the 1/12 Batman, believe it or
not this figure is even better! He comes with magnetic shoulder pads and
badge. The outfit has a real leather
feel to it, and the details on the boots, belt, from head to toe give you that
look you know from the comics. He has
great articulation that allows you to utilize many different poses with
ease. He stands well on his own, but
also includes an amazing stand with the Judge symbol on it.
Accessories
Dredd is armed with a
Lawgiver pistol that is programmed to recognize only his palm print. The Lawgiver allows for 6 types of ammunition, this is maybe the coolest thing about the Judges. He also includes a day stick, a knife, 2 stun
grenades, handcuffs, extra ammo clip, 6 pair of hands and an excellent stand.
Overall
I love the character Judge DREDD and this figure exceeds expectations.
He is well made, very detailed and a great figure to play with. If you love the movies or the comic books, or
just collect very cool action figures this one is for you. Check out our pictures and let us know what
you think of Mezco's version of JUDGE DREDD!
