Mezco Toyz One:12 The Warriors Furies Box Set Figure Review

Mezco Toyz
The Warriors/Furies Box Set Review
The Warriors is a late 70's gang based movie that has become a cult classic.  All of the New York gangs are called to a large meeting to listen to the King talk a lot of gang things. As the King preaches "Can you dig it!" one of the other gangs shoots and kills him and in the process blames The Warriors for killing him. This is the point where The Warriors have to make back to their home turf, fighting every gang in the city.  The Furies are an excellent 70's type gang wearing baseball uniforms and each having distinct face paint.  All of this leads to a nice scene of chasing and fighting with The Warriors winning out and getting away.  I was ecstatic when Mezco first announced the release of this set, and its living up to the hype.  Let's take a closer look at this four figure box set and if it can hold out in a gang fight!

Pros
  • Swan and Ajax come with 2 interchangeable heads
  • Swan has 9 interchangeable hands
  • Ajax has 7 interchangeable hands
  • Authentic Warriors soft goods
  • Switch Blade
  • Handcuffs
  • Two Molotov cocktails
  • Two baseball bats
  • Furies Leader comes with 2 interchangeable heads
  • Two Furies bats
  • Authentic Furies baseball uniform
  • Furies come with 7 interchangeable hands
Cons
  • All 4 bodies are the Joker buck
Figure
The box set comes in a nice compact tin packing with the four gang members and their accessories.  When I first ordered them I knew they would be on the basic Joker buck and this didn't bother me.  The soft goods on all four figures are really well done and fit well with the characters.  When I first opened the set all of the elbows were very stiff so I heated them up and had no issues after doing so.  The set had zero defects and great movement with the soft goods.  The accessories are nothing new as we have received the majority of them with past figure releases.  One thing I did notice was the bats seem to be a larger thicker size compared to Harley Quinn's and the P.S.C.C set of bats.  I like all of the face sculpts with the only one that is a little off is Ajax, but its a very young version of him and I still think it looks good. I took a good amount of pictures to try and show off each figures unique look in a deep dark city environment and hope you enjoy them.
Overall
If you are a huge fan of The Warriors movie or video game, then these figures are made for you.  I don't believe the characters have ever been done in this highly detailed form before.  Mezco did make a set of them over 10 years ago, but they don't hold up to this latest set.  I don't think I could ask for anything else with this set as far as accessories go, and hope they continue to expand on the gangs.  One last thing is the concern everyone has with the Joker buck, as we always have those same concerns.  What makes or breaks it for me is the figure/character itself that has this body.  I could see these figures being made with double jointed elbows, but as I stated before I knew what I was getting when I bought the set.  Time will tell if Mezco decides to eventually not use this body any longer, but I think the chances are slim and assume characters like John Wick will be on the same body.
