Some Spoilers Ahead:
First, let me say please go see the movie and support GI JOE.
Yes, I went and saw GI JOE Retaliation tonight and I must say I wasn't that impressed. Yes, it still has and added some of the best characters, but they don't do much with them.
First, they add a weak scene in the very beginning to have more Channing Tatum. It's pretty bad when a group of 3 are sitting under a spotlight after just penetrating a military base fence 20 yards from a guard tower in North Korea. Stuff like this just takes away from the movie.
Yes, they kill Duke and in very poor fashion. I believe these movies should show all the great characters (like Firefly) killing each sides troops. You shouldn't use these main characters to be killed off in the movies in lame fashion. There are good parts to the movie like the ninja battle scene but that's about as much action you will get in the movie.
I really think they are going to have a tough time making another movie after this one, but I hope I am completely wrong. I don't want to say much more so you can come to your own conclusion. Maybe I am just too much of a die hard fan of the 1980's GI JOE.....

I never liked Channing Tatum as Duke so i wasn't that upset to hear that he kicks the bucket in Retaliation.I do,however,like "Duke" the character and am hoping he makes a comeback some way some how only as a different actor.
ReplyDeleteWell looks like the movie is making a killing and they will make a 3rd one. Maybe they can up the budget and bring even better action.
