Mezco Toyz One:12 Collective MDX Blade Review

Mezco Toyz MDX Blade Review
The first version of Blade from Mezco has been considered one of their best releases to date.  We were lucky enough to get this MDX version of Blade that includes some unique pieces the original Blade did not come with.  He is outfitted with a new tactical vest as well as the same handgun leg harness that came with the Toy Fair exclusive Blade. I really like both of these additions along with two different head sculpts compared to the standard release. Let's take a closer look at Blade's details and dig into the pros and cons of Mezco's latest release.

Pros
  • Excellent body with over 30 points of articulation
  • 12 interchangeable hands
  • New tactical vest
  • Handgun leg harness
  • Sub machine gun with extra magazine
  • Handgun with extra magazine
  • Shotgun
  • Sword with sheath
  • 6 stakes
  • 4 pairs of sunglasses
  • 2 gun firing effects
Cons
  • None
Figure
Blade is a classic Marvel character that goes all the way back to the 70's.  He has gone through some changes over the years which has brought us to this modern looking Blade.  I already owned the original Blade and loved it so much I made four versions of the Mezco classic.  This MDX version was accidentally sent to a Amazon customer months ago and there was a ton of speculation as to if it was a legit figure.  Not long after the mistake was made we finally found out it was a real release when Mezco put it up for pre-order.
Now that I finally have him in hand I'm very happy this was an official release. The tactical vest is a work of art. It has tons of details and is a great fit on the Blade body.  He is highly articulated has no issues during posing. They even updated the boots so the ankle rocker works better.  This tiny change really allows him to be posed in even more dynamic shots compared to the regular release. He also comes with the majority of the same accessories from the original release except for the pistol and leg holster.
Overall
I am very happy with the MDX Blade. It is an excellent pairing with the original Blade release.  If you own both versions it really allows for a lot of different looks on both Blade bodies.  It would be tough to say which one I like better. Overall, I like the MDX Blade more, but I really like the original Blade head sculpts.  If you missed out on ordering Blade he is still available for a reasonable price on the secondary market.  Mezco also has a wait list option for customers that want him and are willing to see if their wait list converts.  In the end, I would say the first release Blade and the MDX Blade are both awesome and you can't go wrong buying either one.
