NECA Toys Alien KANE Figure Review

NECA Toys Alien Figure:  KANE

*More Pics at the Bottom*

First off, let's just say KANE is a very detailed figure, and man I would not want to be him.  If you know anything about the alien movie, you know his FATE.  The first Alien movie has a different feel from the rest just because of the time and process it takes to see the Alien, "Big Chap".  Let's talk about KANE and what this unique figure has to offer.

Packaging:

The packaging is the classic NECA look with art on the sides and back as well as the backer card.  I have a particular way of opening these figures because I prefer not to destroy any of the artwork that comes with him.  Check it out….. Pretty cool!

Figure:

After opening the figure I noticed right away the amount of detail and workmanship that went into it.  From head to toe he is covered in details that are specific to the character and his suit.  I removed all of his parts and right away went into bend and pose mode. He was a little tight which is normal, but after moving him some he was still snug but able to pose.

ACCESSORIES:

He comes with a nice 2 piece helmet, very cool gun, and the signature light he carries from the movie.  I remember watching this as a kid, and certain elements of the movie blew my mind.  Kane definitely walked into one of the areas that did that to me! The helmet comes off and reveals the nasty face hugger stuck to his face.  Once this happens, it's all over...you will no longer have a stomach (even if you have a bottle of Pepto!)

Overall:

Once I was done critiquing him on his own, I threw him right into the alien pit.  Good luck to anyone that goes anywhere near this group of nasty's. He fits right in with the rest of NECA's line of Aliens and photographs very well!  I did notice when I initially took him out of the package he has some slight stickiness to certain areas of his paint.  Generally, with any figure that this happens to, after being out of the package for a little while, it tends to dry up and not be noticeable.  It didn't affect anything with the figure, and I didn't have any problems with him. I just opened him up and went nuts with him!

NECA Toys Announces NES Dog Alien

Yesterday on Twitter Randy Falk made a big announcement about the latest figure to join their retro NES homage line of figures. This is one that we have all been waiting for...the NES version of the DOG ALIEN!!!

As you know, we are huge fans of the regular Dog Alien so we absolutely can't wait for this one you come out. The paint looks sick on it.

It sounds like this will come out some time in the summer, but I would pre-order this bad boy now!

NECA Toys Dog Alien Review

Right off the bat, I will tell you that the Dog Alien is my favorite Xenomorph figure that NECA has made so far (not including the Queen, of course).

He comes in the standard packaging with the ALIENS 3 art on the front, back, and sides. Once you open this bad boy up you will notice that he is extremely tall and lanky and has bit of a longer tail. He stands at about 11" or so when he is stretched out in the upright position (which is taller than the previous Xenomorphs such as Big Chap and Warrior). He is also noticeably thinner and not as bulky as those guys which stays true to the movies. The Dog or Runner is not as strong, but makes up for that with his speed and agility.

This figure is an improvement in almost every way in comparison to previous Xenomorph figures produced by NECA. He feels a lot sturdier and secure in your hands and when posing him. The paint has a nice glossy look to it which I think is fantastic.

NECA came up with a brilliant idea and included a clear stand. This figure is so highly articulated that the stand enables you to capture the Dog Alien in those perfect poses which otherwise would be extremely difficult or impossible to do without it. My personal favorite way to pose him is in that crouched position where he is just waiting to pounce on somebody.

His head, arms, legs, and tail can all be bent and moved in multiple positions. There are endless possibilities for poses to put him in which makes him the perfect figure to photograph if you're into that (like we are).

To sum it up, the NECA Dog Alien is a definite winner and any Alien fan should immediately pick one up. NECA continues to step their game up with each and every figure they release. I could talk about this figure all day, but some times you just need to see it to appreciate it. Check out the pictures below.

NECA Toys Escape from New York - Snake Plissken Review

Snake Plissken

"I thought you were dead?" Don't tell NECA toys that because he is alive and well! Snake is one of my all time favorite characters, and he looks spot on.  If you haven't watched the movie Escape From New York you should stop reading this and go watch the movie right now.  It's a gritty and imaginative movie that brought us an iconic character that is, arguably, one of the best ever.  He's not Rambo, Commando or even James Braddock...he's Snake Plissken the one eyed, bad ass! When Jon and I went to NECA studios 6 months ago I was patiently waiting for Randy to show us this figure. When I saw it, it went above and beyond my expectations...and that wasn't even the final product yet! Enough of my opinion, lets get to the details of this superb figure.

Packaging

The packaging is perfect! NECA always gets it right when it comes to this which is because of their attention to detail. IMO, the cover art looks way cooler than the actual VHS cover of the movie. They did an excellent job of using Snake (decked out with his classic weapons) as well as adding the iconic skyline from the beginning of the movie. Also, the insert is an actual hard paper board that is sturdy and will look outstanding displayed behind your figure...if you choose to open it.

Sculpt

The face sculpt looks wonderful with the eye patch and five o'clock shadow.  His hair looks good as well, and his blue eye glows with anger. His torso is well made and very detailed. It includes the iconic snake on his stomach. His hands disconnect easily and snap back in snugly with no issues.  In order to remove his jacket you have to remove his hands, but that is done quite easily.  His legs and feet bend smoothly and are very easy to pose.

Clothing

Most figures you buy generally do not come with clothing and are molded on to it.  I was never really interested in the clothed type figures until recently when I started buying some Sideshow figures.  This is where NECA adds another level to this figure...from head to toe. You can remove his leather jacket that has a stained weather look, and he has the sleeveless black shirt. His pants are the unique black/grey/white camo from the war.

Accessories

Snake comes with an excellent assortment of weapons that everyone will remember from the "table" scene in  the movie. The MAC-10 is sweet with the ability to remove the silencer and also comes with a shoulder strap. The scoped pistol is nice and looks just like the one from the movie. It comes with a sweet holster as well.  The throwing star is unique, along with the wrist timer, and the emergency tracer.  These are great details that are not molded on but separate pieces to look more realistic. Again, NECA's attention to detail is stellar.

Overall

This is my favorite figure NECA has ever made.  Yes, I admit that I am biased to the character so maybe I am going a little nuts since NECA makes an insane amount of quality collectibles.  In my opinion, everyone needs at least two of these (opened/unopened). I am really hoping to find another one to keep MOC and to display because it's that nice! Please, enjoy the pics and spread the word about this wonderful work of art! Let us know what you think and if you have any questions about SNAKE. "The name's Plissken"
